UK Bank Statement PDF to CSV Converter

BankConverter turns your UK bank statement PDFs into clean, structured CSV and Excel files in seconds. Whether you are reconciling a quarter of expenses for your accountant, preparing an MTD return, or building a cash flow model, the converter does the data entry for you.

How the converter works

Most UK bank statement PDFs are not designed for data extraction. Tables flow across pages, transactions wrap over two lines, headers repeat in the middle of the document and currency symbols sit in odd columns. BankConverter handles all of this with format-specific parsers for each major UK bank, so you do not need to pre-process the file or write any rules.

1

Upload the PDF

Drag and drop your bank statement PDF onto the converter, or pick a file. Multi-month statements and joint files work fine.

2

Auto-detect the bank

The converter recognises 21 UK banks by layout. There is nothing to configure — just upload and wait a few seconds.

3

Review and download

Preview the parsed rows, fix anything that needs fixing, then download as CSV, XLSX or push straight to your accounting software.

Supported UK banks

BankConverter covers the high-street banks, challenger banks, and digital-only providers used by UK individuals and small businesses. Each bank has a dedicated landing page with format-specific notes:

Income and expense mapping

A CSV is only useful if the columns make sense to your bookkeeping software. BankConverter goes a step further than a basic PDF parser by mapping every transaction into structured fields:

Tip for accountants: The mapper remembers per-client rules. The second statement you process for the same client is essentially one click — matched descriptions fall into the correct categories automatically.

Export to Xero, QuickBooks and Sage

You do not have to stop at CSV. BankConverter exports directly into the formats expected by the major accounting platforms:

Xero CSV import QuickBooks Online (.csv) Sage Accounting FreeAgent Excel (.xlsx) OFX/QIF

Each integration includes the column headers expected by the target platform — for Xero it is the standard bank statement template with Date, Amount, Payee, Description and Reference. For QuickBooks Online it follows the three-column format. You can preview the file before downloading to confirm the mapping.

Privacy and security

Bank statements contain sensitive personal and business data, so the converter is designed to minimise the time your files live on the server:

Pricing and the free tier

The first 50 transactions per month are free with no credit card. Beyond that, plans start at £9.99 per month for individuals and scale up to agent plans for accountants managing dozens of clients. The Pro tier adds receipt OCR, batch processing and the API.

Frequently asked questions

Will it work on a scanned PDF?

Most modern UK bank statements are text-based PDFs, which work instantly. Scanned (image-only) PDFs require the OCR add-on, available on the Pro plan.

Can I convert a year of statements in one go?

Yes — upload multiple PDFs and the converter will produce a single combined CSV, sorted by date and de-duplicated.

What about credit card statements?

Credit card PDFs from the same banks are supported. Money in / Money out columns are swapped so they sit consistently with current account exports.

Does it work for joint or business accounts?

Yes, the converter does not differentiate between personal and business accounts — only the bank’s PDF format. HSBC Business, Barclays Business, NatWest Business and so on all work the same way as their personal counterparts.

Ready to convert your first statement?

Free tier with 50 transactions per month. No card required.
