1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the BankConverter and TaxBridge UK services ("Services") operated by Amelia GB Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under Company No. 07124049.
By creating an account or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Service Description
Important: TaxBridge UK is Making Tax Digital (MTD) compatible software. It is not a tax advisory service. We do not provide tax advice, accountancy services, or financial guidance. You should consult a qualified accountant or tax adviser for advice specific to your circumstances.
Our Services include:
- BankConverter — conversion of UK bank statement PDFs to CSV format
- TaxBridge UK — MTD-compatible software for Individual Tax Self Assessment, including income & expense mapping and digital submission to HMRC
- Income & Expenses Mapper — categorisation and VAT calculation tools
- Receipt Scanner — OCR-based receipt digitisation
3. User Responsibilities
3.1 Accuracy of Information
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy and completeness of all data you enter or upload to the Services
- Reviewing all Self Assessment figures before submission to HMRC
- Ensuring your tax return is correct and submitted by the applicable deadline
- Maintaining your own records as required by HMRC
We provide tools to assist with record-keeping and submissions, but the legal responsibility for the accuracy of your tax return remains with you.
3.2 Agent Responsibilities
If you are a tax agent using TaxBridge UK on behalf of clients:
- You must have proper authorisation from each client before accessing their data or submitting returns
- You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of submissions made on behalf of your clients
- You must comply with HMRC's agent authorisation requirements
- You must maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance
4. HMRC OAuth Consent
To use TaxBridge UK's MTD features, you must authorise us to access your HMRC account via OAuth 2.0. By granting this authorisation:
- You consent to us submitting Self Assessment data to HMRC on your behalf
- You consent to us retrieving your tax obligations and submission status from HMRC
- You understand that you can revoke access at any time via your HMRC online account
- You acknowledge that revocation will prevent further MTD submissions until re-authorised
5. HMRC Fraud Prevention Headers
By using TaxBridge UK, you consent to the collection and transmission of fraud prevention data to HMRC as required under HMRC's API terms. This includes device identifiers, IP address, browser user-agent, timezone, and screen dimensions. This is a mandatory requirement for all MTD-compatible software — see our Privacy Policy for full details.
6. Subscriptions & Pricing

All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe.
6.1 Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full card details on our servers. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
6.2 Refund Policy
- You may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial subscription purchase, provided you have not submitted a tax return to HMRC using the Service during that period.
- Refund requests should be sent to privacy@bankconverter.co.uk.
- After the 14-day period, no refunds will be issued for the current billing period.
6.3 Cancellation
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Account Settings page or by contacting us.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
- You can also cancel via the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from your account.
- Upon cancellation, your account reverts to the Free plan.
- Your data remains accessible for download for 30 days after cancellation.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for any unlawful purpose, including filing fraudulent tax returns
- Upload malicious files, viruses, or any content designed to harm the Services
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Services without our written consent
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Services
- Share your account credentials with third parties
- Exceed reasonable usage limits or abuse the free tier
- Use the Services to process data for jurisdictions other than the United Kingdom (the Services are designed exclusively for UK tax)
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms without notice.
8. Intellectual Property
- All software, designs, logos, content, and documentation comprising the BankConverter and TaxBridge UK services are the intellectual property of Amelia GB Ltd or its licensors.
- You retain full ownership of all data you upload to or create using the Services (bank statements, tax figures, receipts, etc.).
- We do not claim any ownership over your data.
- You grant us a limited licence to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Services.
9. Data Export
You may export your data at any time:
- Converted bank statements can be downloaded as CSV files
- Income & expense reports can be exported from the mapper
- Self Assessment data is viewable and exportable from the MTD dashboard
- You may request a complete data export by emailing privacy@bankconverter.co.uk
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from or relating to the Services shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any penalties, interest, or other charges imposed by HMRC as a result of errors in your tax return, late filing, or incorrect data entered by you.
- We are not liable for any loss or damage caused by interruptions to the HMRC API service, which is outside our control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Amelia GB Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms
- Your use of the Services
- Inaccurate data you provide or submit through the Services
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
12. Service Availability
- We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime.
- Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.
- We are not responsible for downtime caused by HMRC API outages, Stripe outages, or events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
13. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. For material changes that affect paying subscribers, we will provide at least 30 days' notice.
14. Termination
- You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from Account Settings.
- We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you breach these Terms.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately.
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, indemnification, and intellectual property) shall survive.
15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Amelia GB Ltd regarding the use of the Services.
